You need Kontakt Player 7 (KP7) to use it (also free).

1. Download Native Access (NI app downloader - I know bro, it's annoying but it is what it is).
2. Download KP7.
3. Download ROOTS.
4. Check your email for serial number from Westwood Instruments (after downloading ROOTS).
5. Enter serial code in Native Access and download ROOTS.
6. Access ROOTS via KP7 in your DAW.
7. Bonus: Komplete Start is also free and comes w/ hella producer sauce. It's automatically loaded in Native Access so all you have to do is download the stuff from there.
