And I should let you know right off the bat that I said “no.”
Simply put, my catalog is worth more per year than they are offering (like, way more).
They didn’t just want my existing catalog.
They also wanted 50% of anything I add to it within the next 2 years.
AND 50% of anything I produce with my likeness within the next 2 years.
The crazy part is this includes things like beat leases/exclusives, kit sales, and my memberships.
I said “no” because I have a strong, stable brand.
I don’t need to say "yes" to a deal for immediate upfront payments, because my catalog and brand will pay dividends everyday for the rest of my life (unless I sign it away, which is essentially what they're asking me to do).
I did this by putting in work daily over years;
- Dropping beats (type beats, DSP releases).
- Building brand presence on social media (e.g. YouTube channels).
- Connecting with serious artists (taking the time to filter out the quality acts).
- Manually securing my royalties and publishing (ASCAP, MLC, etc.).
🔐 This work was tedious in the day-to-day, but now it pays EVERYDAY.
And it definitely pays more than $25k/year 😭.
So, I appreciate the label's offer - but, no thanks.
If you wanna learn how I built a brand and catalog that allowed me to confidently say no to this offer, check out my “1000 USD per Month is Achievable for Any internet producer who tries” Full Bundle.
